GoFundUs!

We’re doing it.  The whole “chrowd-funding” thing for our production of THRUST! at Stage773, August 19-29.  You learn a lot doing one of these.  In particular, that you may or may not know how to spell the word crowd on your first try.

You also learn about the generosity of your fellow humans, the joy of having support for your art and the ripple effect of positivity that a successful campaign can bring to a performance.

But, hey, why not learn a little about us, too?

“What is this money going towards?”

Some basic stuff like printing postcards and posters, partially paying for our CTA and NPR ads, yadda yadda…  but best of all, paying our out of town and guest artists.

THRUST! is split into two-halfs, one directed by Yours Truly and the other directed by Chicago/Boston dancer Ian Berg.  In Ian’s half, we are bringing in two dancers from Ian’s Boston-based company Subject Matter, Ayan Imai-Hall and April Nieves, and also inviting two members of Chicago’s own M.A.D.D. Rhythms, Starinah Dixon and Jumaane Taylor.  We feel that their time is valuable and that money is a good way to express those feelings.

“What are the incentives?

A ticket.  A discounted ticket.

For every $15 donation we will give you a ticket.  No limit.

Tickets for THRUST! are going to be a flat $20 – already not a bad deal!  But if you are looking for a cheaper ticket, we are more than happy to give you one as a thank you for your early support of the show.

“How can I give you money?”

“That’s it?”

If you want a cast picture we can send you one whether you donated or not.  Jar of real dancer sweat from the performance?  Help yourself. (I’m not up-to-date with current incentives offered by other groups’ campaigns).

Point is, we would like you to come to the show and here is a cheaper way to do it.  Personally, I would rather you give $15 and come than give $50 and not come.  That’s just how I feel.

P.S.  I’ll still take that $50, though.     images
